Hope VI Revitalization Grant Awarded

The Housing Authority of New Orleans along with Central City Partners applied for and received a $20 Million HUD grant. The HOPE VI grant was instrumental a decade ago in doing away with two of the city's most neglected public housing complexes, Desire in the 9th Ward and St. Thomas in the Lower Garden District, and replacing them with mixed-income neighborhoods.  Along with the revitalization of C J Peete, the grant provides funding for 50 affordable homes units.  22 of these will be on site and the remaining 28 will be off-site within a 1.5 mile radius of the CJ Peete development. HANO and CCP are poised to move forward immediately with the comprehensive revitalization of the the C J Peete site.  The redevelopment of the C J Peete site will serve as a catalyst for rebirth.
